Time or Money saving tips Anyone?
Do your bills online. No stamps, envelopes or wasted time. It literally takes me a few minutes to pay them all. I have redeemed hours in the last year.
Do a Cash Only Budget: You would think a budget will constrain you but it has been liberating. It also saves you time doing your bills. You dont have to spend hours reconciling your checkbook and making sure it matches your bank account. Uuuggghh!!! Again saving you time at bill paying time. A budget also balances different spending personalities in the family. It provides marital bliss(when you stick to it of course). I often have a difficult time enjoying myself when dining out or at doing something that is supposed to be fun. I am always thinking about what else I could have done with the money. When budgeted I have complete freedom within the boundaries. Julie has a little plastic coupon holder that she organizes the cash in. This is highly recommended. If you have a pile of cash it will get spent and you will have more month left than cash.
If you are on highspeed internet consider switching to an online phone company. We were on Verizon and spending around $50-$60/month with long distance. We now spend $25 with Vonage. You can even keep your existing number. They also have a referral program. You can get a free month for everyone you refer.

I have a tip for teaching your children about money. Give a saving incentive, such as matching whatever they put into a permanent savings account with $.50 for every dollar. It has worked wonders for our kids.
Great idea's Blake! I know bugeting has been the only thing that has helped us over the past few years..now (if Jim quits gettng laid off) we should have all our debts paid off in the next few months....slow and steady wins the race! I also agree with Julie...you HAVE TOO teach your children about money. We make Tawni earn her money and she decides how it is split up..(I.E giving, savings, spending,a gift fund) I think to many people wait until their kids are teen agers forgetting that by then they know it all and arent listening to 90% of what you have to say...good habits start young!!!
GREAT tips Blake way to go I know friends of ours who struggle finacially but yet are unwilling to let someonelse talk about what they are doing wrong. Finaces are such a personal think to some people. Keep up the good words Blake.

I know using Vonage has really helped us out too. We didn't want to pay the big fees for the land line, PLUS the long distance on top of it. Now, we can call long distance anywhere, and it usually sounds very good.
I have some Life Coaching classes that are 'free' but aren't using an 800 number. I feel badly for my classmates who are paying for every second going by.
Hey - we didn't get our free month for referring you -did you sign us up? ;-)
My only problem with vonage is I have to have internet and I think I am saving money buy having a home phone with no long distance and getting DSL. I use the cell phone when I need to make calls. If I got rid of the home phone I would have to get cable then pau for cable internet which in the end I think cost more then how I currently do things. What do ya smart people think of this poor cowboys Idears ???
